Guys, Christmas is coming!
It is officially that time of year; holiday songs play on the radio, decorations, and gifts are beginning to line the store shelves
Even though the turkey hasn't quite hit the table yet, you may have started your Christmas shopping and hopefully booked your tree farm portrait session with me ; )
I want to help take a few things off your plate and make this holiday season a little less stressful for you . The first item on the agenda is picking the perfect outfits for that Christmas card photo!
One of the most important things to remember when choosing your outfits for a Christmas tree farm portrait session is the weather. It's most likely going to be pretty cold, so you will want to dress accordingly. Trust me when I say layers are your friend! An extra thin layer of clothing underneath your outfit is going to make all the difference in retaining that body heat!
While fancy dresses can add a sophisticated look to your outfits, you've got to remember that its going to be cold. Unless you can wear layers underneath and pair it with leggings, you're better off saving that gorgeous dress for the indoor holiday party..
Sweater dresses are an amazing choice, because they're warm, easy to layer and pair nicely with a coordinating set of leggings or pants.
Do you have a nice jacket or pea coat?
Paring a nice looking coat with your outfit, allows us to get some great candid photos in between posed shots without making you freeze the whole time.
Plus it can add a few different looks to your session if anyone refuses to wear, or take their coat off.
While we are still on the subject of staying warm during our session, lets talk accessories. You can give your family a unified look by adding the same patterns or colors into a cozy scarf.

His scarf really ties the whole family's look together even though he is in a completely different colored sweater, because it adds red to his outfit and it matches the girls pants!
In my last blog post, I talked a lot about color schemes.
While it's still important to keep everyone looking coordinated, it's a little easier to follow for this particular session.
Everyone's go to Christmas colors are usually red and green, but we're at a tree farm... literally surrounded by green.
You'll want to avoid using it as a base color or you'll blend in to the background. Try sticking with different shades of red, or white+black.

One of the best pieces of advice I have, is to wear comfortable shoes!
High-heel boots or shoes may not be the best choice because we're going to be walking on uneven ground for a while.
If the shoes you have in mind aren't the best to take a stroll in, don't wear 'em...
bring them along and swap once we reach our location to save your feet the pain.
